Polls will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday as Pottawatomie County voters decide school board races in several districts — Shawnee, Earlsboro, Pleasant Grove and Maud.
Vying for the Shawnee Office No. 5 seat, a five-year term, are Judy Chance and Gerry L. Pfeil.
In Earlsboro, Phyllis Crosswell and Tracey Poe are in the race for the Office No. 3 seat, a five-year term.
In Maud, there are three candidates in the race for Office No. 3, a five-year term. Amy Bassett, Scott Bruno and DeCarla Wallgren are the candidates in that race.
Those in the Pleasant Grove school district will decide between Jerry Skaggs and Timothy J. Lawrence for the Office No. 1 seat, a five-year term.
Voters who are in the Konawa school district also will choose a school board member for the Office No. 3 seat. Those candidates are Jon Tarver, Katie Akerman, Tammie Tooley and Bobby L. Hatter.
A few Pottawatomie County voters also may vote in nearby school board elections involving other counties, including those living in the Meeker and Harrah districts.
On Tuesday, Pottawatomie County Election Board Secretary Diana Knight urges voters to take their Voter Identification Cards to the polls with them.
“Your Voter Identification Card can help Precinct Officials find your name in the Precinct Registry and it may also help them resolve the problem if you are not listed in the Precinct,” she said.
Voters who are not found in the Precinct Registry, or voters who disagree with the information shown in the Registry, may need to cast a provisional ballot. A provisional ballot is sealed in a special envelope and counted after election day if the voter’s information can be verified by the County Election Board.
