Sammi Jewett scored eight of her game-high 20 points in the third quarter to help Ada’s Lady Cougars dispatch Seminole 47-31 Saturday night.
Ada broke open a tie game at the half by holding the Lady Chieftains (4-18) to just 10 second half points while scoring 26 of their own.
“Part of our game plan was shutting down [Aaliyah] Blakely,” Seminole head coach Harlon House said, referring to Ada’s dominant center who averages close to 15 points per game.
Blakely scored just eight points, but Jewett took a leading role in the offense and found success driving the ball to the basket, especially in the third quarter.
The Seminole offense became anemic after halftime. The Lady Chieftains shot just 22 percent for the game.
“We had our shots, but we just couldn’t get it in the hole,” House said.
Maddie Perry scored 11 points to lead the Lady Chieftains. Teammate Baylee Lucas added seven.
Seminole will head to Wewoka for a match with the Lady Tigers Monday.
