Sheriff’s deputies are trying to identify a person of interest in a burglary investigation after the man and his vehicle were captured on a home deer camera the same day a burglary occurred.
Pottawatomie County Undersheriff Travis Palmer said the burglary occurred sometime Monday at a home about one mile north of Asher on U.S. 177.
The homeowners returned to discover their house had been burglarized and many household items were taken. On Wednesday, images of a man and a vehicle were discovered on a deer camera posted at the residence and those images are now helping deputies investigate this case.
One image is of a white sedan parked in the driveway with a white male believed to be in his 20s behind the wheel, Palmer said.
“It’s a side view…if anyone recognizes him, he’s a person of interest,” Palmer said about this case.
By looking further at details in the photographs and doing further checks, deputies believe the vehicle is a Lexus 300 that has damage on the driver’s side.
“If anyone knows who this is or this vehicle, please call,” Palmer said. “We’d love to have a tag number.”
Without the deer cam picture, deputies would have little information to work from as a far as probing this case, Palmer said, adding that deer cams are becoming a popular home security tool.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Palmer or Investigators Mike Carnell or Ken VanDuser at 405-275-2526 during the day, or after-hours at 405-273-1727.
