  • A weak first quarter doomed McLoud’s Lady Redskins in their first-round Class 4A district tournament matchup with Harrah Friday night, one the eighth-ranked Lady Panthers took 48-18 to push McLoud within one game of an early exit from the postseason.
     
    McLoud managed a single free throw in the first eight minutes to fall behind 13-1. The Harrah lead ballooned to 15 (22-7) at halftime.
     
    Lady Panther Darian Hill led all scorers with 14 points. Teammates Blake Blessington and Haley Mack added 12 and eight points, respectively.
     
    McLoud got all of its scoring from three players — Bethanie James (11 points), Brook Johnson (4) and Erica Hostetter (3).
     
    McLoud will head to Newcastle for a regional tournament game Thursday. Their foe is yet to be determined.
