Bethel got off to a slow start and Heritage Hall’s Lady Chargers took advantage, stifling the Lady Wildcats 47-37 in the first round of a Class 4A regional winners’ bracket Thursday.
Bethel fell behind 17-9 after one quarter and was in a hole the rest of the way.
The 18th-ranked Lady Wildcats were led by Bry Flanagan’s 13 points. Genna Robinson added six.
Heritage Hall’s Erica Wickfield led all scorers with 15. Teammate Rachel Moore added a baker’s dozen.
The loss moves Bethel into the losers’ bracket, where they will face Santa Fe South at Bethany High School today at 1:30 p.m.
Bethel’s boys were triumphant in their losers’ bracket matchup with Harding Prep, 58-46.
The Wildcats will play the loser of Thursday night’s McLain-Mt. Saint Mary game at 8 p.m. today.
