  • Bob and Shirley Winton of Shawnee will celebrate 60 years of marriage Feb. 19, 2013.

Bob Winton and Shirley Floyd, who grew up in the Henryetta/Dewar area and lived in Harrah for many years, were married in Dewar Pentecostal Church by Reverend Maurice Deal on Feb. 19, 1953. They also celebrated their 50th anniversary in the same little church 10 years ago, and Brother Deal was there to say a few words.

Bob and Shirley have one daughter, Dr. Kimberly Winton. Kim and her husband Jim Speck also live in Shawnee. Kim is the director of the USGS, South Central Climate Science Center in Norman, and Jim is a capital projects engineer for the city of Norman.

Bob and Shirley have two grandchildren. They are Sydni and Dylan Cicalla, and they reside near Birmingham, Ala.

Bob and Shirley both have master's degrees in education. They spent their entire careers dedicated to the education of children. Bob was a high school science teacher for many years before entering into the administrative role of counselor and principal at several schools. Shirley taught remedial reading at Harrah to middle school and high school age kids. Remedial reading is taught to each child individually at their own skill level and pace. Her classes made a tremendous difference in so many children's' lives and education.

To celebrate this grand occasion, Shirley, Bob, Kim and Jim went out for lovely dinner, then attended a play at the Shawnee Little Theatre.
