Mount St. Mary went on a 16-10 run in the fourth quarter Friday night to defeat Bethel 49-44 in a Class 4A regional tournament losers’ bracket game.
Senior Trevor Stark recorded 14 points as Bethel concluded its campaign at 8-16.
Clint Simmons put in eight points for Bethel while teammates Garret Fitzgerald and Andrew Kinnamon chipped in with seven apiece.
St. Mary was 13-of-20 in the free-throw department and Bethel was 9-of-14.
“It was one of the better games we played all year,” Bethel coach Jason Thomason said. “We competed very hard but we gave up too many second-chance points in the fourth quarter and we had some costly turnovers.”
Joining Stark as Bethel seniors are Matt Watson and Dustin Pollard.
