  • Tenth-ranked Mulhall-Orlando stormed to a 35-24 halftime lead and was never seriously threatened Friday night in upending seventh-ranked Asher 73-54 in a Class B area tournament elimination contest.

  • Tenth-ranked Mulhall-Orlando stormed to a 35-24 halftime lead and was never seriously threatened Friday night in upending seventh-ranked Asher 73-54 in a Class B area tournament elimination contest.
     
    Four of Mulhall-Orlando’s six players were in double figures.
     
    Sophomore Sean Fleming headed Asher’s scoring with 13 points. Senior Zach Fowler added 12 and sophomore Tim Johnson added 11. Johnson had three of Asher’s seven 3-point field goals.
     
    Hunter Fowler of Asher knocked down two treys.
     
    Mulhall-Orlando sank 18 of 28 free throws and Asher was 5- of-16.
     
    “They were just better than we were today,” Asher coach Lance Weeks said. “We played hard but we didn’t play very well. We just came up a little bit short of the state tournament.”
     
    Finishing their prep basketball careers for Asher were Zach Fowler, Jake Frazier, Steven Goodgion, Dalton Hockley and Aaron Pybas.
