Meeker endured shooting troubles Tuesday and the Lady Bulldogs suffered a season-ending 67-39 setback to Kingfisher in a Class 3A regional losers’ bracket game.
Kingfisher forged a 20-4 first-quarter lead, and the Lady Bulldogs were never able to recover. Meeker trailed 41-16 at halftime, but got within 49-30 to start the fourth quarter.
“They fought hard in the third quarter and tried to get back in it, but our shots just weren’t falling,” said Meeker head coach Lisa Pettitt. “We just couldn’t overcome (Kingfisher’s) shooting. They just shot the ball unbelievable.”
The Lady Bulldogs were 13-for-43 (30 percent) from the floor, including a 3-for-19 effort from long range. Meeker was 10-for-24 (41.7 percent) from the free throw line.
Cortney Edmonds recorded a team-high 15 points, and Morgan Palmer finished with 12.
The Lady Bulldogs — ranked ninth to end the regular season — conclude their campaign at 19-7.
“It was a great season,” Pettitt said. “It’s one of the best seasons the Meeker girls have had in a long time.”
