Shawnee expanded on a 2-0 halftime lead Friday and shut out Western Heights, 4-0, in the first round of the Rose Rock Tournament.

The Lady Wolves won the tournament last year, and are looking to forge back-to-back titles for the first time.

Jordan Leach put Shawnee up 1-0 just five minutes in Friday, courtesy of an assist by Chelsea Evans. Evans scored the second goal of the game, and was later assisted by Leach to make it 3-0 in the second half.

Leach, assisted by Evans, scored the final goal.

Keeper Lauren Mackey posted three saves.

The win moved the Lady Wolves to 2-0, and into an 11 a.m. game Saturday against the Durant-McLoud winner.

Shawnee’s boys fell behind 3-0 in the first half Friday en route to suffering a 6-0 setback to Western Heights at the Rose Rock Tournament.

That moves the Wolves’ record to 1-1, and puts them an a 12:30 p.m. game Saturday versus the Durant-McLoud loser.
