An early Shawnee lead was wasted Friday as McAlester recorded a 5-2 victory.

The Wolves, 2-3 on the season, scored two runs in the top of the second inning for a 2-0 lead. McAlester countered with single runs in the second, fifth and sixth innings to go along with a two-run fifth.

Shawnee was held to five singles in seven innings but didn’t commit an error. Josh Rolette, Bryce Beal, Colin Robertson, Brock Maldonado and Landon Harper recorded a single apiece for Shawnee.

Losing pitcher Tyler Rogers, who toiled 4 1/3 innings, permitted four runs on five hits. Rogers fanned eight batters, walked three and hit one.

Casey Bowlan, who went one inning for Shawnee, surrendered one run. He didn’t allow a hit but walked four.

McAlester committed one error on the day.

Shawnee will entertain Guthrie Monday in a 5 p.m. varsity/junior varsity doubleheader. Guthrie will then play host to Shawnee Tuesday.
