Three Dale pitchers combined for a six-inning three-hitter and the Pirates accumulated 10 hits in knocking off Class 5A top-ranked Carl Albert 11-3 Thursday.

Dalton Tillison, Dale’s third pitcher, was credited with the victory. Tillison fanned one in a 1 2/3-inning stint.

Starter Evan Anderson, who went the first four innings for Dale, fanned nine and walked just two.

Dale was tied at 3 entering the top of the sixth inning but netted eight runs. Hunter Pinkston had a grand-slam home run in the spree.

Registering a double apiece for Dale were Pinkston, Jace Wilkins, Xavier Lanham and Colt Manship.

Dale, ranked No. 1 in Class 2A, made just one error on the day.

“We played pretty well today,” said Dale coach Jerry Sanford.

Tuesday, Dale ripped Jones 12-1 in a five-inning game. Tanner Nelson earned the pitching victory to go to 1-0 and the Pirates collected eight hits. Taylor Smith, Gage Ross and Gunnar Hathcock posted two hits apiece with Ross and Hathcock notching a double.

Dale, 3-0, will travel to Christian Heritage for a 4:30 p.m. varsity/junior-varsity doubleheader today. The Pirates will be off Saturday.
