  • Asher didn’t surrender a single hit on the day and needed just five total innings to sweep a doubleheader with New Lima Thursday, 18-0 and 15-0.

Each game was stopped after the top of the third inning on the run rule.

George Merchain moved to 1-0 on the mound after the opener. He struck out six and did not issue a walk.

Offensively, Tanner Andrews led Asher with a double, a home run and seven runs batted in. Trucker Lee slugged a three-run blast.

Andrews started on the hill in the nightcap and picked up the win to move to 2-0. He fanned five and didn’t issue a walk, and reliever Zach Fowler struck out one and also didn’t issue a free pass.

Fowler was an offensively catalyst for the Indians in that game, hammering out a grand slam in the second inning. Zach’s brother, Hunter Fowler, notched a pair of doubles.

Now 4-0 on the season, Asher faces Leedey at 1 p.m. Saturday at Dolese Park in Oklahoma City.
