  • Class B’s No. 2 Asher was out-hit 7-6 Saturday, but forged an 8-2 win over third-ranked Leedey at Dolese Park.

Leedey led 1-0 after two innings, but the Indians — playing as the visitors — erupted for five runs in the top of the third. Trucker Lee spearheaded that rally with a grand slam.

Asher added a single run in the top of the fifth and a pair of runs in the top of the sixth to lead 8-1, and Leedey ended the scoring with a run in the bottom of the seventh.

Starter Tanner Andrews earned the win to go to 2-0 on the mound. In six innings of work, he gave up one run on six hits while striking out nine batters and issuing three walks.

George Merchain threw the seventh for Asher.

Andrews helped his own cause with a two-hit effort that included a pair of runs batted in. Caleb Dubler ripped a run-scoring double for the Indians as they improved to 5-0.

Asher played errorless ball. Leedey committed three miscues.

Asher will participate in the Red Oak Festival Monday and Tuesday, beginning with a 3 p.m. encounter with Class A’s top-ranked Rattan Monday. The Indians will face 2A No. 6 Wister at 5 p.m. Monday, and will then take on Class 4A’s defending state champion and 17th-ranked Hilldale at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
