  • Over the weekend, Shawnee police took a report involving a burglary at Dietrich’s Bar, located in the hotel at 623 Kickapoo Spur, and the investigation is ongoing.
According to a police report, the owner reported the bar was burglarized. Among the items taken were five flat screen televisions, along with beer, liquor, cigarettes and other items.
The report shows surveillance cameras had captured the crime in progress, with the owner giving that video to police.
That footage showed two males walking into the patio area, with attempts made to break the cameras during the ordeal.
The owner also told officers that one of the males in the video was still a guest at the hotel. Police went to that room and knocked on the door, with police finding that man, along with two juveniles inside. Police cleared the room because they smelled marijuana, according to the report, and then inquired further about the burglary.
The report shows that Shawnee Police Cpl. James Wood recognized one of the juveniles as one being in the surveillance video.
Police searched the room and found several beers from the bar area, along with three burned marijuana cigarettes, the narrative reads.
After further interviews, it was determined the burglaries occurred on two different nights.
As a result of the initial investigation, one juvenile was placed in Carter Hall Juvenile Detention Center, the report shows. Police also are looking at several other suspects as part of this ongoing investigation.
    Watch for updates.
