  • Glee Club slates tour

  • OBU's Glee Club schedules tour for April 7-9.

  • Oklahoma Baptist University’s Bison Glee Club, an all-male choral group, will perform a tour in Western Oklahoma April 7-9. The group will conclude their tour with an April 9 performance in Tulsa, Okla. The public is invited to attend the free concerts at the churches.
     
    On Sunday, April 7, the Bison Glee Club will begin their tour in Woodward, Okla. They will sing during the 10:45 a.m. worship service at First Baptist Church of Woodward, located at 202 East Hanks Trail, Woodward, OK 73801.
     
    Also on April 7, the group will sing during the 6 p.m. worship service at First Baptist Church of Elk City. The church is located at 1600 W. Country Club, Elk City, OK 73644.
     
    On Monday, April 8, the Bison Glee Club will perform a morning concert at Elk City High School.
     
    On Tuesday, April 9, the group will sing during the OBU Green and Gold Gala at the Tulsa Convention Center, located at 100 Civic Center, Tulsa. The gala is a fundraising event for OBU student scholarships featuring legendary NFL coach Tony Dungy.
     
    The Bison Glee Club is an auditioned group of the finest male musicians on the OBU campus. The group long has been considered one of the premiere men’s choruses in the Southwest and has toured extensively throughout the United Stated as well as in Canada, Europe and the Far East. They have been featured as an honor choir for the Oklahoma Music Educators Convention and the Southern Baptist Church Music Conference.
     
    The Bison Glee Club is under the direction of Dr. Brent Ballweg, director of choral activities. Ballweg is the Burton H. Patterson Professor of Music in the Warren M. Angell College of Fine Arts.
     
    Additionally, he teaches courses in conducting, choral procedures and choral literature. Prior to coming to OBU, he held college and university conducting positions in Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Arizona and Missouri, and he has served as the artistic director and conductor of the Plano (Texas) Civic Chorus, assistant director of the Kansas City Symphony Chorus and founder and director of the Northeast Arkansas Chorale.
