Taylor Anderson and Ryanne Griggs each clubbed a three-run home run, and Jaeline Flewallen notched a two-run shot as Dale ousted Muskogee 18-14 in Saturday’s championship game of the Bethel Tournament.
It was the Lady Pirates’ first time to win the tourney.
“It’s always a real good tournament,” said Dale head coach Andy Powell.
Muskogee won the hitting battle, 20-19, but the Lady Roughers couldn’t overcome Dale’s long ball. Aside from the three homers, Dale picked up a double apiece from Kortland Wilkey, Kassidy Sparks and McKensi Stith.
Griggs finished the game at 4-for-4.
Dale, ranked second in Class 4A, defeated 6A’s No. 6 Muskogee earlier in the day as well. Stith went 2-for-4 with a pair of roundtrippers and Sparks and Wilkey snagged a double apiece as the Lady Pirates won that outing, 12-7.
Dale opened its share of the Bethel Tournament Friday with a 21-9 win over Konawa, and a 19-18 win over Class 5A’s top-ranked Purcell.
Now 10-2, Dale will host Tecumseh at 4 p.m. Monday.
