  • Dale’s Pirates continued their winning ways Friday, remaining unbeaten with a 10-4 victory over Sterling in six innings.

Class 2A’s No. 1 Dale improved to 6-0 this season after the win over the Class A Tigers from Comanche County. The game was played in Yukon as part of the Union City Festival of Champions.

Both teams’ bats started hot with each side scoring three runs in the first inning. Dale followed with three more runs in the second and kept the lead for the remainder of the game.

The Pirates padded their advantage with two runs in the fourth inning and two more in the fifth.

Starting pitcher Dalton Tillison got the win for Dale, tossing four innings with four hits, four strikeouts and one walk. Jace Wilkins pitched the fifth and sixth innings, allowing one run on two hits.

Offensively, Tillison contributed a double, as did catcher Gage Ross.
