State's Second Amendment Association founder speaks to Tea Party in Shawnee.

The Tea Party of Central Oklahoma held its regularly scheduled monthly meeting recently at Van’s Pig Stand on Highland.

Officers in attendance were presiding Chairman Vince McCauley, Vice-Chairman Darlene Whaley, and Secretary Rebecca Dolin.

Guest Speaker was Tim Gillespie, founder of Oklahoma Second Amendment Association. Gillespie addressed pending and new legislation that affects gun rights. His talk included discussion of the current laws, Oklahoma and federal, with open discussion following.

He has visited with the Oklahoma legislators and has been in Washington recently with Congressmen as a spokesperson for 2nd Amendment Rights. For more information about OK2a or how to join, contact Gillespie at or (855)OK2A-GUN (652-2486).

State Rep. Justin Wood and State Sen. Ron Sharp were in attendance and answered any questions that people had for them. The Tea Party’s next meeting will be April 18 at Van's on Highland at 6 p.m. to eat first and the meeting starts at 6:30 p.m.. Tea Party of Central Oklahoma meets the third Thursday of every month. The Tea Party is an informational meeting and is open to everyone.

The people in attendance were from Shawnee, Konawa, Maud, Tecumseh and surrounding towns. Closer to time for April's meeting information will be made available about next month's speaker.
