Macomb split a pair of games Monday at Varnum High School, beginning with a 20-4 run-rule win over Earlsboro.
The Hornets suffered from nine errors in their second game lost to Varnum 10-9.
Macomb led Earlsboro 14-1 after one inning, and the game was stopped after three innings. Macomb rang up 10 hits, including two doubles and a single from Jared Boydston.
Troy Wilson belted a triple, and John Woods added a double.
Justin Moore held Earlsboro to five singles. He struck out four batters and walked one in moving to 1-4 on the mound.
Macomb led Varnum 7-3 after two innings, but the Whippets tied the game at 8 in the bottom of the fourth. It was 9-all after the fifth inning, and the hosts tacked on the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth.
The game was stopped there because it was originally scheduled to last only five frames.
All 10 of Varnum’s runs were unearned as the Hornets miscued nine times.
Troy Wilson absorbed the loss in relief and fell to 0-1.
Of Macomb’s 10 hits, William Conley hammered a triple and Wilson and Steven Moore picked up a double each.
Now 4-8, Macomb will go to Butner today to face Butner and Mason.
