Dale exploded for 10 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning Monday, and stuck Luther with a 14-2 loss in a contest shortened to five innings on the run rule.
Evan Anderson shined on both sides of the ball, clubbing a triple and a two-run home run while also picking up the pitching win. Anderson (2-0) struck out eight and kept Luther hitless through three innings.
Hunter Pinkston came on in the fourth and surrendered two runs on three hits while fanning three batters and walking one. Pinkston was also an offensive catalyst in Dale’s 12-hit day as he went 1-for-2 with a two-run homer.
Taylor Smith smacked a pair of doubles for the Pirates, and Dalton Tillison was 1-for-2 with a double. Jace Wilkins hit a pair of singles as Class 2A’s top-ranked Pirates improved to 7-0.
Dale will host Tupelo at 4:30 p.m. today.
