  • Shawnee faced Class 5A’s No. 1 Carl Albert on neutral ground Friday, and suffered a 6-1 setback at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The game was tied at 1 after the first inning, and the Titans went on to add a single run in the second and two runs each in the tops of the third and fourth frames.

The 16th-ranked Wolves were held to just two hits — a run-scoring triple by Casey Bowlan and a single by Kyler Rogers.

Bowlan started on the mound and absorbed the loss. He gave up four runs (only one earned) while striking out two batters and walking one.

Rogers came on in the fourth and gave up two unearned runs on one hit. Josh Rolette closed, giving up one hit and one walk while fanning one batter.

“We should have played better defense; that’s the bottom line,” said SHS coach Todd Boyer. “Our pitchers threw well enough to win.”

The Wolves committed four errors, while the Titans played errorless.

Shawnee entered Friday’s game after an 11-1 win over Western Heights Tuesday.

Now 6-5, the Wolves will host Bethel at 5 p.m. Monday.
