  • Tecumseh wins 10th straight

  • Tecumseh built a 6-0 lead through three innings Thursday, and then held off a late rally to nip the OKC Broncos 7-6 in the first round of the McLoud Tournament. It was the Savages’ 10th straight win.

  • Tecumseh built a 6-0 lead through three innings Thursday, and then held off a late rally to nip the OKC Broncos 7-6 in the first round of the McLoud Tournament.
     
    It was the Savages’ 10th straight win.
     
    The Broncos trailed 7-3 after four innings, then scored a single run in the top of the fifth and two runs in the top of the sixth.
     
    Each team garnered five hits, with Tecumseh’s Gage Trahan offering up two singles and scoring twice. Catcher Micah Sanchez went 1-for-3 with a two-run single, and he drove in two other runs on groundouts.
     
    Rylan Pierce was 1-for-2 with a double and two runs scored.
     
    Starter Colton Owen earned the pitching win. In 3 2/3 innings, he fanned four and walked four and improved to 2-0. Pierce threw 1/3 of an inning and Alan Brewer picked up his first save of the season in throwing the final three frames. Brewer struck out one batter and walked two.
     
    Now 10-2, Class 4A’s 13th-ranked Tecumseh will face No. 7 Byng at 2 p.m. today in McLoud and Harrah at 6 p.m. in Harrah. Both games are part of the McLoud Tournament.
