  • The Shawnee Public Library will host a three-part series of classes for new computer users in April in the Computer Training Center of the library, 101 N. Philadelphia Ave.
     
    Registration is required separately for each class and may be completed at the library or by calling 275-6353.
     
    The schedule includes:
     
    Introduction to Computers, 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 9 – For new computer users, a look at basic terms and functions, including a lesson using a mouse.
     
    Introduction to the Internet, 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 10 – Basic tips on searching the World Wide Web. For new computer users.
     
    Getting Started with Email, 10 a.m. Thursday, April 11 – Create a free email account using one of several free services available online.
     
    Make your business grow with Customer Essentials class at the Shawnee Public Library.
     
    Get down to business with a Shawnee Public Library workshop on Customer Essentials, from 9:30 a.m. to noon Thursday, April 11, in Community Rooms A and B of the library, 101 N. Philadelphia Ave.
     
    The program features presentations from Jennifer Edwards of the Rural Enterprises Inc. Women’s Business Center and Fran Topping of Gordon Cooper Technology Center. Each brings a wealth of experience working in the business field.
     
    They will focus on the best methods for customer service, branding of a business and creating and retaining customer loyalty.
     
    The workshop is offered free of charge, but registration is required in advance.

    Get an introduction to GoodReads.com in Shawnee
     
    Your next great book may be just an Internet search away. Find out how at the Shawnee Public Library’s program “Getting Social with Books,” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 11, in the Computer Training Center of the library, 101 N. Philadelphia Ave.
     
    The program will give a look at the website GoodReads.com, which features recommendations and discussion of what others have read and what they thought of it.
     
    The program is for ages 18 and up.
    Space in the computer lab is limited, so registration is required in advance to attend.

    McLoud Public Library hosts Teen Ravenous Readers discussions on “Old School”
     
    The McLoud Public Library invites local teens to become Ravenous Readers at a pair of book discussions in April.
    The library will host Teen Ravenous Readers specifically for high school seniors at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 11, in the Milburn Room of the library, 133 N. Main St.
     
    A week later, all other teens are invited for a similar Teen Ravenous Readers program, at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 18 at the library.
     
    Discussions will focus on The Big Read’s featured novel, “Old School,” by Tobias Wolff.
     
    The book is the focal point of programs and activities at the library and throughout the Pioneer Library System in marking the seventh year of The Big Read in the library system.
     
    Registration is not required to attend either discussion.

    Tecumseh teens invited to cork keychain craft program
    The Tecumseh Public Library invites teens to an afterschool Cork Keychains craft program at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, at the library, 114 N. Broadway.
    Teens will be taking old corks and repurposing them into floating keychains. All supplies will be provided by the library.
     
    Registration is required in advance to take part.
