BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (AP) — A Dewey woman has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for her role in the death of her 15-month-old daughter.
KRIG reports (http://bit.ly/XYdR6T ) that Ashley Mitchell was sentenced Wednesday in Washington County District Court. Mitchell pleaded guilty earlier to charges of child neglect and enabling child abuse in the death of Emma Beth Warmberodt. Mitchell also pleaded guilty to drug charges.
The child was found dead in February 2012 at a home where she lived with her mother and step-father — Marcus Mitchell. Authorities have said she had broken ribs and bruises and died of blunt force trauma to the chest.
Marcus Mitchell was convicted earlier of first-degree murder in the girl's death and has been sentenced to life in prison.
