Class 4A top-ranked Dale concluded a 3-0 Saturday by edging past Byng 6-2 in the championship game of the Harrah Tournament.
Dale accumulated 12 hits to just five for Byng but Byng’s Lady Pirates stranded 10 runners.
Dale scored three runs in the top of the first inning, then added three more in the fifth in the seven-inning contest.
Jaelin Flewallen stroked three singles for the victors while Danielle Dockrey posted two hits, including a triple. Teammate Ryanne Griggs also had a three-bagger.
Dale defeated Byng 10-4 earlier in the season.
Dale’s Lady Pirates launched the day with a 20-3 win over Lexington in a four-inning contest.
Kensi Stith was the leader of the 22-hit arsenal with a double and three singles. Flewallen added a double, a triple and a single while Griggs notched a double among three hits. Kortlyn Wiley recorded three singles.
Dale followed up with a 12-11 win over Harrah in a 4 1/2-inning game called on a time limit. Harrah tallied four runs in the top of the fifth.
Dale chalked up 14 hits as Taylor Anderson led the way with a two-run home run and two singles. Griggs had three hits, including a double and Flewallen added a triple and a single. Caitlyn Pitchford was credited with a double and a single.
“We really hit the ball well the first two games,” Dale coach Andy Powell said. “We couldn’t get a big hit in the championship game but it was a pretty good day. We played great defense the whole tournament.”
The 18-4 Lady Pirates will travel to Konawa Monday for a 4:30 p.m. varsity/junior varsity doubleheader.
Powell’s squad will host Latta and Washington Tuesday. The Latta game will start at 4 p.m., followed by the Washington contest.
