  • Dale rebounded from its first loss of the season by ripping Western Heights 11-1 Saturday at the Shawnee Showdown at Memorial Park.

Dale, 15-1 on the season, dropped a 7-3 decision to Ponca City Friday night at the Showdown.

Saturday’s game was stopped on the run rule when Dale scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth. Evan Anderson’s two-run, one-out triple concluded the proceedings.

Dale collected 11 hits while scoring in every inning. Tanner Nelson led the assault at 3-of-3, including a triple. Gunnar Hathcock went 2-of-3 with a double.

Chase Byndas added a double and Jace Wilkins stroked two singles.

Wilkins also upped his pitching record to 3-0 with a two-hitter. He notched seven strikeouts and walked two.

    Dale didn’t commit an error.

“We played a lot better than we did Friday night,” said Dale coach Jerry Sanford.

Top-ranked Dale will entertain Latta at 4:30 p.m. Monday in a varsity/junior varsity doubleheader. The Pirates will also be home at 4:30 Tuesday opposite Purcell. Dale will be engaged Thursday through Saturday at the Roff Tournament.
