Class 4A top-ranked Dale accumulated 23 hits in five innings Friday in knocking off Bethel 14-4. The game was stopped on the run rule in the fifth inning.

Dale, 15-4 on the season, never trailed after opening up a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.

Danielle Dockrey and Kassie Sparks of Dale generated four hits apiece with Sparks collecting a 3-run inside-the-park home run in a four-run third. Sparks and Dockrey posted a double apiece.

Taylor Anderson and Ryanne Griggs of Dale recorded three singles apiece and teammate Jaelin Flewallen had a 2-run double in the first.

“We really hit the ball well,” Dale coach Andy Powell said. “That was good to see.”

For Bethel (7-6), Cati Caro had two hits, including a double, and the Lady Wildcats finished with 10 hits.

Dale will play in the rain-delayed Harrah Tournament today at the EOC fields. The Lady Pirates will play their first game in the double-elimination format at 11:15 a.m. against the Lexington-Roland victor.
