  • Shawnee’s soccer squads swept district foe Tulsa Hale Friday night at Jim Thorpe Stadium.
     
    In the girls’ opener, Shawnee improved to 6-2 overall and 1-1 in district play with a 4-0 decision.
     
    Jordan Brittain recorded the only opening-half goal 25 minutes into the game on an effort from 20 yards out.
     
    That lead went to 2-0 three minutes into the second half as Jordan Leach scored off an assist from Chelsea Evans.
     
    At the 25-minute mark of the closing half, Leach scored again off an assist from Evans. Evans then concluded the scoring with with an unassisted goal with10 minutes left in the game.
     
    SHS goal keeper Lauren Mackey notched two saves.
     
    Shawnee’s boys then capped the sweep with a 2-1 victory over Hale after regulation play ended in a 1-1 deadlock. Wambdi Tiger had both of Shawnee’s goals, including a second-half effort (with an assist by Austin McKay) that wiped out a 1-0 Hale lead.
     
    The overtime went two five-minute periods with Tiger prevailing in a penalty-kick shootout.
     
    Shawnee goal keeper Bronson Wise was credited with eight saves.
     
    Shawnee went to 3-5 overall and 1-1 in district play.
     
    Both Shawnee squads will entertain Tulsa Edison Tuesday night.
     
    Tuesday’s action will serve as a benefit game for Raegan Permetter, who was injured in a traffic accident. Contributions will be used to defray Permetter’s expenses.
