  • PRAGUE, Okla. (AP) — Authorities say an Oklahoma City police officer left paralyzed after trying to break up a bar fight is in critical condition after a crash on Interstate 40.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Officer Chad Peery was in extremely critical condition Monday morning after the Sunday crash near Prague.

Officials say Peery was in a van with his caretaker and four juvenile relatives when the van blew a rear tire, then went off the road and rolled three times.

The Oklahoman reports (http://is.gd/tdnnMl ) the children range in age between 13 and 5. Their conditions weren't immediately available. Investigators say only the caretaker was wearing a seat belt.

Peery was left in a wheelchair in 2011 after he was beaten during a bar dispute in which he tried to intervene.
