Dale, which reeled off 16 hits in the game, broke a 5-all tie with a run in the top of the fifth and neither team scored over the final 2 1/2 innings.

Dale’s Sam Barry, playing in her first outing of the spring, led off the game with a solo home run over the left field fence. Barry, who has been sidelined because of a broken foot suffered during basketball season, connected for the HR on the very first pitch. She went 3-for-3 on the day.

Also garnering three hits for Dale was Ryanne Griggs with a double and two singles. Teammate DaLacy Dockrey had two hits, including a triple to lead off the third.

Cortland Wilkey garnered two singles as Dale improved to 27-6.

Asher, which finished with eight hits, received a 2-of-3 performance from Alisha Huggins. Huggins’ two-run home run to right field in the bottom of the first knotted the game at 2.

Haley Odell of Asher went 2-for-2 with two singles.

“It was a really good tuneup game for regionals,” Asher coach Tari Dubler said. “I thought we played pretty well but we left too many runners on base.”

Asher stranded eight runners and Dale left 12 on the base paths. Dale committed three errors and Asher posted two.

“Asher has a good, solid club,” Dale coach Andy Powell said. “They are a very good defensive team. I think they can do something in their class. Tari has done a very good job. I’m very impressed with them.”

Dale will entertain Little Axe at 4 p.m. Monday in a varsity/JV doubleheader. The Lady Pirates will be at Harrah at 4 p.m. Tuesday. Dale is slated to begin regional tournament play Thursday at a yet-to-be determined site.

Asher, 22-8, is slated to host Seminole at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in a varsity/JV twin bill. The Lady Indians will also be involved in regional play next Thursday.
