Casey Bowlan struck for a triple and two doubles in the opener, and Shawnee’s Wolves reaped both halves of a doubleheader at Western Heights Monday, 13-2 and 10-6.
The games were originally scheduled to be split between sites Monday and today. Shawnee will not play today.
The Jets were run-ruled in five innings in the first game as Bowlan led Shawnee’s nine-hit offense at 3-for-4 with five runs batted in. Landon Harper and Logan Franklin each doubled as well for Class 5A’s No. 11 Wolves, and they combined for two runs scored and two RBI.
Austin Cooper, at 1-for-4, scored twice and drove in two runs.
Bowlan also shined on the mound while picking up his fifth win of the season. In two innings of work, he surrendered one earned run on one hit while fanning five batters and walking two. Teddy Robertson closed, striking out two and walking one while giving up one earned run on four hits.
Shawnee, playing as the home team this time, held a 5-4 lead after three innings in the nightcap. The Wolves led 8-5 after five innings, and out-scored the Jets 2-1 in the sixth.
Starter Kyler Rogers (5-2) earned the pitching win. In two innings, he struck out three, walked one and gave up three unearned runs on one hit. The Wolves, as well as the Jets, suffered from three errors in the contest.
Harper led Shawnee’s eight-hit outing at 2-for-2 with a double, a run scored and two runs batted in. Colin Robertson was 1-for-4 with two RBI.
Now 15-11, Shawnee will host Noble at 6 p.m. Friday. The Wolves will celebrate senior night at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Memorial Park.
