The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, announced that Duane Scott Davis 42, of Okmulgee, pled guilty to an Information charging him with Wire Fraud.
The charges arose from an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The Information alleged that from in or about September 2007, and continuing through April 2010, the defendant, devised and intended to devise a scheme to defraud Joan Steiner, Larry Gabriel, and Delaney Gabriel, and to obtain money by means of materially false and fraudulent pretenses, representations, and promises.
It was part of the scheme that the defendant represented that he had land and mineral rights to property located in the Eastern District of Oklahoma. The defendant falsely represented that he had oil wells for the victims to invest in, so for the purposes of executing the scheme he would cause to be transmitted by means of a wire, communication in interstate commerce from Hot Springs, Arkansas, or Carmel Valley, California to Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
The Honorable Kimberly E. West, Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted the defendant’s guilty plea, and ordered the completion of a presentence report. Sentencing will be scheduled upon its completion.
The defendant remains on bond pending sentencing.
