Tecumseh’s Lady Savages, ranked sixth in Class 6A, saw their slow-pitch season come to an end Wednesday with a 3-2 day at a regional tournament.
The Lady Savages needed just three innings to top 13th-ranked Norman 16-1 to open the day, but they fell 18-8 in six innings to No. 10 Southmoore in their second game. Tecumseh hammered Norman again, this time 14-2, before getting some payback on Southmoore in the fourth game, 15-7.
The Lady Savages lost their fifth and final game of the day, 15-2, to top-ranked Westmoore. Westmoore scored eight runs in the top of the first inning.
Against Norman in the first game, Shyanna Sigman went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and two runs scored. Jordan Detherage knocked a triple and a single and finished with three runs batted in, and Jessica Cummings went 1-for-3 with a grand slam to end the game.
Caylie Patton went 2-for-3 with a single and a double and two RBI, and Aspen Grimes notched two doubles, drove in one run and scored three times. Macy Muirhead hit two singles and scored twice, and Hilary Babbit hit a single and finished with one RBI and two runs scored.
Patton and Sigman each went 3-for-4 with two singles, a double and one RBI in the loss to Southmoore, and Detherage was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI. Triston Trice logged two singles and scored once.
In the second win over Norman, Sigman, Patton and Detherage were each 2-for-3 — Sigman and Patton with a single and a double and Detherage with a double and a home run.
Babbit ripped a pair of doubles, scored twice and drove in three runs, and Cummings, Trice, Logan Hays and Muirhead each went 2-for-3 — all singles.
The Lady Savages rang up 24 hits to Southmoore’s 17 in the teams’ second meeting of the day. Patton and Detherage collected four apiece as Detherage hit two singles, a double and a homer and finished with five RBI and four runs scored.
Patton drove in one run and scored three times while connecting for three singles and a three-bagger.
Sigman, Babbit and Grimes were all 3-for-5 — with Grimes and Sigman just missing the cycle. Grimes finished with a single, a double and a triple and four runs batted in, while Sigman scored four times and drove in three runs with a home run, a double and a single.
Page 2 of 2 - Kelsie Carsten hit three singles, and Hays was 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In the loss to Westmoore, Patton scored once while going 2-for-2, and Sigman was 1-for-2 with a two-run homer. Detherage, Babbit, Grimes, Carsten and Muirhead each singled once.
Tecumseh finished the day with 78 hits — an average of almost 16 per game. The Lady Savages’ opponents finished with a combined 55 hits — an average of 11 per game.
Tecumseh finishes the season at 25-12.
“It was a disappointing loss,” Tecumseh coach Perry Wilson said of the loss to Westmoore. “But we had a great season, and this is a great group of girls.”
Tecumseh bids farewell to seniors Patton, Sigman, Muirhead and Trice.
“They’re going to be missed,” Wilson said.
