Asher hurlers Caleb Dubler and Zach Fowler tossed one-hitters Thursday as the Indians rolled to two Class B regional tournament triumphs.
Dubler whiffed six and walked four as the Indians opened the day with a 10-0 whitewash of Boswell in five innings. Boswell’s only hit was a third-inning single.
Asher collected 13 hits and ended the game by the run rule with four runs in the fifth inning.
Dubler also cranked a three-run triple in the second and a run-scoring single in the fifth.
Hunter Fowler and Jake Frazier posted a single and a double apiece while Tim Johnson added a two-bagger.
Zach Fowler and George Merchain had two singles each.
Asher then blitzed Stonewall 8-0 as Zach Fowler fanned 18 batters in seven innings. Only three of Stonewall’s outs were non-strikeouts.
Fowler fanned the side in the fifth and seventh innings.
Dubler led Asher’s 11-hit assault with a double, two singles and four runs batted in. Frazier also had a double and two singles.
Tanner Andrews added a three-run home run in the fifth. It was Andrews’ ninth HR of the campaign.
Asher needs just one regional victory today to advance to next week’s state tournament. The Indians will play at 6 p.m. against the winner of a game between Stonewall and either Thackerville or Boswell. One of those teams would have to defeat Asher twice to advance to state.
