No. 1 singles entrant Montana Sellers went 2-1 on the day and finished as the consolation champion as Shawnee’s Wolves hosted the “Nick Birchett Invitational” Saturday.
Heritage Hall was first as a team with 59 points, and Byng was runner-up at 53. McAlester (42) was third, and Edmond Memorial (41) was fourth.
Sellers fell to Norman North’s Seth Fitter (6-0, 6-1) in the first match, and after a second-round bye he defeated Michael Vallejo of Edmond Santa Fe (7-5, 4-6, 6-4) and Tyler Dunn of Henryetta (6-4, 6-2).
At No. 2 singles, Chase Wood went 2-2 and finished 13th. Wood was down 0-2 before defeating Edmond Santa Fe’s Allen Secrease (6-2, 6-0) and Putnam City North’s Justin Miles (6-2, 6-4).
Bryce Dowhower and Zach Fisher, at No. 1 doubles, went 1-3 for 15th place. Their lone win was against a Tecumseh duo, 6-1, 6-2.
At No. 2 doubles, Donovan Mehagan and Jordan Wissman were 0-4 for 16th place.
Class 5A regional play for Shawnee’s Lady Wolves is scheduled for Monday, and the Wolves will be in a regional Monday, May 6.
