The Greater Shawnee Area Chamber of Commerce announced that they have filled the position of Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) Executive Director.
The CVB is run as an auspice of the chamber as a result of a contract with the city of Shawnee to promote tourism.
Kinlee Farris was hired as CVB Executive Director. Farris has been with the chamber for five years as CVB Sales Manager. She became interim executive director on Feb. 1, after the previous director resigned.
“I’m excited to move us forward,” Farris said. She added that she plans to “continue working with the city and helping to move Shawnee forward.”
In addition to RV rallies, which Farris worked to place at the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center as a part of her previous position, Farris said she will begin working to expand into new markets as executive director.
“We’ve got some fresh new ideas,” Farris said, adding that they will be revealed at a later date.
As interim director, Farris booked two events to come to Shawnee, as well as securing two TV spots for Shawnee.
“We maintained all of our relationships and kept things running,” Farris said of her time in the interim position.
Chamber President/CEO Nancy Keith said she is very excited to see Farris begin as executive director.
“We’re very excited to have her,” Keith said.
