  • OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Authorities say the death of a 7-year-old boy in a late-night house fire in southwest Oklahoma City has been ruled a homicide.

Officials say the boy, identified as Adrian Roberto Avalos, was apparently alone at the home he lived in with his mother and a man when the fire broke out late Sunday.

Oklahoma City police Sgt. Gary Knight said Monday that investigators have determined the home was burglarized while the child was home alone. Knight says officials believe that the burglary and the fire are connected.

Authorities say the Oklahoma City Fire Department was dispatched to the house following reports of heavy smoke. The boy was taken to OU Medical Center, where he died.

Knight says there have been no arrests in the case and investigators have no suspects.
