  • Lady Bison, Lady Cavs split regular-season finale

  • Oklahoma Baptist managed a split with 13th-ranked St. Gregory’s Monday in a pair of run-rule games to wrap up the regular Sooner Athletic Conference softball season for both teams.

  • Oklahoma Baptist managed a split with 13th-ranked St. Gregory’s Monday in a pair of run-rule games to wrap up the regular Sooner Athletic Conference softball season for both teams.
     
    The Lady Cavaliers won the opener 13-0 while OBU took the second game, 9-0. Both games were called after five on the run-rule.
     
    OBU made three errors in the first game and got in a hole early. The Lady Cavaliers scored four in the first on two hits and two errors and added five runs in the second, including a Whitney Anderson grand slam.
     
    OBU got four hits in the game, two coming from Katelynn Garrett, with Krystal Johnson adding a double.
     
    Hannah Wilbur (11-5) took the loss, and Devon Frazier (18-3) earned the win.
     
    St. Gregory’s got eight hits, including a double by Caitlin O’Hagan.
     
    The Lady Bison scored all nine of their runs in the second game’s third inning. Dara Gray singled home a run for a 1-0 lead, and Shalee Cordell followed suit for a 2-0 advantage. Erin McLeod chipped in with an RBI double for the 3-0 lead.
     
    With two outs, Garrett singled to load the bases. Harmon drove in a run with a ground ball and another scored on an error for the 5-0 lead. Kasey Maddox then ripped a grand slam for the final margin.
     
    For Maddox, it was home run No. 5 on the season and grand slam No. 2.
     
    Noelle McDowell (12-9) allowed two hits and struck out eight in the complete-game victory. Frazier (18-4) took the loss.
     
    The Lady Bison had 10 hits, including three by Gray and two each by Maddox and McLeod.
     
    Both teams will play Friday in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament at Oklahoma City’s ASA Hall of Fame Stadium. Game times and opponents have yet to be determined.
     
    The Lady Bison are 30-21 overall and 11-13 in the SAC, and the Lady Cavaliers are 32-13 overall and 13-11 in the conference.
