Dale flexed its top-ranked Class 4A muscle Monday as Sam Barry ripped four home runs and the Lady Pirates mauled top-ranked Class 6A Westmoore, 25-9.

The game was stopped after five innings on the run rule.

Barry, who was sidelined for the majority of the season with an injury, tallied a total of 10 runs batted in while going 4-for-4. Two of her homers were grand slams.

“It was pretty impressive,” said Dale coach Andy Powell.

Teammate Jaelin Flewallen also swung a hot bat Monday, knocking a solo homer and a two-run homer to finish with three RBI. Kensi Stith, Kassidy Spark and Rachel Lackey notched three singles apiece.

Dale totaled 21 hits to Westmoore’s 16. A big factor in game, Powell said, was that Dale was walked eight times. No Westmoore batter received a free pass.

Now 31-6, Dale will face Latta at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the Class 4A state tournament at Oklahoma City’s ASA Hall of Fame Stadium. The Lady Pirates are the defending state champions.
