  • The city of Shawnee is currently planning to conduct a feasibility study to determine the cost, and cost effectiveness of repairing South Kickapoo Street between Kickapoo Spur and Farrall Street.

The study, which is being conducted with funds from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and the city, is also expected to determine the best changes to make to the road, including whether or not to widen the road to four lanes.

Currently the city is attempting to begin setting aside money to pay for such a project, should it arise, Commissioner Keith Hall said.

“We have discussed how we would fund it,” Hall said. “We’re trying to prepare, assuming we can do it in the future.”

Hall said the project is a good idea, one which he hopes to see completed, however it must fit into the city’s “list of priorities.”

“The problem is we have a lot of good projects, but we can only fund so many,” Hall added.

City Manager Brian McDougal did not return calls Wednesday.
