Amy and Mike Brand of Shawnee are pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter, Whitney Susan, to Adam John Baran. The couple exchanged vows at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012. Mike Shelburne performed the ceremony at Northridge Church of Christ in Shawnee. Oklahoma Strings provided the music.
The bride is the granddaughter of Shirley Barber and the late Jack Barber of McKinney, Texas, and Danelle and Robert Brand of Abilene, Texas.
The groom is the son of Michele and John Baran of Cedar Park, Texas. He is the grandson of the late Miriam and Marvin Hutton of Nescopeck, Penn., and Louise and Andrew Baran of Berwick, Penn.
Mrs. Lindsay Chance of McKinney, Texas, the cousin of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids included Mrs. Lanna Kreck of Dallas, Texas, Miss Heather Richard, of Lubbock, Texas, Mrs. Caitlan Neely of Austin, Texas, all college friends of the bride, Miss Jennifer Baran of Abilene, Texas, and Mrs. Kimberly Davies of Cedar Park, Texas, both sisters of the bridegroom. The bridal attendants wore floor length Alfred Sung majestic purple dupioni silk gowns with a high ruffle collar. Miss Stacy Bryan of Dallas, Texas, Miss Dakota Sandifer of Abilene, Texas, college friends of the bride, and Miss Worthy Walker of Memphis, Tenn., high school friend of the bride, served in the houseparty.
Mr. Nick Clark of Houston, Texas, high school friend of the groom, was best man. Groomsmen included Mr. Britton New of Fort Worth, Texas, Mr. Nolan Wisenhunt of Fort Worth, Texas, Mr. John Daniels of Fort Worth, Texas, all college friends of the groom, and Mr. Justin Davies of Cedar Park, Texas, brother-in-law of the groom. The ushers were Blair Davis and Lane Davis of McKinney, Texas, cousins of the bride. The attendants wore black tuxedos, black vests, and purple and black striped ties.
Escorted by her father and given away by her parents, the bride wore a strapless, two-tone ivory and coffee tulle Justin Alexander gown featuring Venice lace applications and elegant beading detailing the bodice. A silk dupioni sash cinched the waist.Whitney paired it with pearl earrings given to her by her mother that she wore on her wedding day and a pearl necklace barrowed from her maternal grandmother. She carried a cascading bouquet of mini calla lilies, ranunculus, and phalenopsis orchids designed by Hydrangea Floral Design.
The ceremony was followed by a luncheon reception held at La Bella in downtown Shawnee. Hors d'oeuvres and a seated luncheon was catered by Cheever's Catering who served crab stuffed mushrooms, lobster bisque shooters, short rib meatball tasting spoons, and warmed spiced pear cider. When the guests were seated for lunch, they were served spinach salad with buttermilk pesto dressing, stuffed chicken breast with red bliss mashed potatoes and baby green beans. The five tier all ivory bridal cake featuring small pearls and a large satin bow with decorative antique broaches was provided by Mischelle Handy Cakes. Each tier of the cake was a different flavor including French vanilla with Kahlua cream filling, strawberry with strawberry and cream cheese filling, chocolate with chocolate mousse filling, and French vanilla with light cream filling. During lunch, crooner, Wade Tower, entertained the guests. Guests signed quilt squares, which will be made into a quilt after the wedding. Whitney and Adam's mother's wedding gowns and family pictures were displayed. The groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner catered by Van's Pig Stand at the Elks Lodge.

Several prenuptials were thrown on the couple's behalf. Whitney's parents hosted an engagement luncheon for the couple at Bistro N at Nordstrom Northpark in Dallas, Texas, last December. The matron of honor and several bridesmaids hosted a couple's shower at the childhood home of Miss Heather Richard in Rockwall, Texas, in July. Several women of Northridge Church of Christ hosted a bridal shower at Northridge Church of Christ in Shawnee and Mrs. Michele Baran, Miss Jennifer Baran, and Mrs. Kimberly Davies hosted a bridal shower in Cedar Park, both in August. The bridal party hosted a lingerie and bachelorette party for the bride-to-be at the home of Mrs. Lanna Kreck in November. The groom's attendants hosted a bachelor party for the groom-to-be at the ranch of Mr. Britton New in October. The mother of the bride hosted a bridesmaid's brunch at the Shawnee Country Club the day before the wedding.
Whitney graduated from Shawnee High School in 2006 and Adam graduated from Cedar Park High School in 2004. The bride and groom met at Abilene Christian University where they graduated with undergraduate degrees in accounting and masters' degrees in accounting. Whitney is a senior associate in State and Local Tax at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Dallas, Texas. Adam is a C.P.A. and financial analyst at Fossil, Inc. in Richardson, Texas.
Following a honeymoon in Nassau, Bahamas, the couple will reside in Richardson, Texas.
