A Wewoka resident was recently named the Veteran of the Week in the House of Representatives.
Glenn J. Sharpe, 77, served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. During his tenure in the Navy, he reached the rank of Radioman Second Class. After being honorably discharged from the Navy in 1958, Sharpe returned to Oklahoma and went to school, receiving his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1960.
He continued his education at the University of Oklahoma, where he earned a Juris Doctorate in 1963. Over the course of his career, Sharpe served as an Assistant County Attorney, a county judge, Assistant District Attorney and ran a successful law practice in Midwest City for 20 years.
“Glenn is truly one of the best and brightest this country has had to offer,” said Rep. Tom Newell, R-Seminole. “He served our country admirably in the Navy and then came home to Oklahoma and served the public of this state after that. I admire him greatly for his accomplishments and am proud that he is a resident of House District 28.”
Currently, Sharpe is city attorney of Wewoka and vice chairman of the Seminole Nation Gaming Commission and the Seminole Nation Judicial Commission. He also serves as quartermaster of VFW Post 1311 and is VFW District 10 Judge Advocate. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Virginia, and has a son and two grandchildren.
