Imagine more and more growers cooperating with the Noble Foundation, youth developing a skill, old generations sharing knowldge in an exchange to promote social connection in our community. Imagine rows and rows climbing high with varied experiments of urban farmers. Brooklyn, NY has been using rooftops, abandoned lots, open green space behind buildings, front yard plots...ANY space to grown fresh produce for their community. Children relishing the first taste of summer, biting into a juicy tomatoe as a more experienced gardner sets a salt shaker on a  tree stump between them. Or maybe it is my garden, where a hunk of cheese would be sweating enough to become pungent, the salty rhine of its texture tempered by the fruity yet luscious skin of Juliets or Better Boys, maybe a Jubilee weighing heavy from the vine.

Slow foods movement and underground dining are bringing back the era of taking time with a meal. Of a meal being the gathering place of family and friends. Of communities connecting. Of understanding just what "Farm to Table" means.

Above is a salad grown regionally, cataloged by family farms across the nation.

Very soon, this salad will have smoked duck's breast layered upon the candy striped radishes.
