The Lincoln County Office of Emergency Management along with the Wellston Emergency Management Office and the City of Carney are humbled by the outpouring of support from fellow Oklahomans wanting to help following Sunday’s tornadoes in that area.
Officials respectfully ask that at this time donations be limited to the items listed below as these are the needs that have been identified at this time:
• Sunscreen; Bug Spray; Batteries (all sizes); Ball caps; First aid kits/supplies; Tarps; Plastic storage containers with lids; Flashlights; Non-perishable snack foods.
Joey Wakefield, Lincoln County’s emergency manager, asks everyone to contact emergency management personnel prior to deploying to assist in the affected areas of Lincoln County.
“It is important to remember that recovery from such a disaster is a long term event and needs will continue in future weeks,” Wakefield said. “There may be a need for further donations and/or manpower in the near future to support recovery efforts.
Donations of large furniture items, household items, and appliances are currently not being accepted as the victims simply do not have a need for these items at this time.
Monetary donations to reputable relief organizations and Volunteers Organization Active in Disasters (VOADs) or faith based organizations will continue to be accepted.
