PICKENS — Rik Christie, age 53, of Ardmore, Okla., passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at Pickens Baptist Church with Pastor Jesse Pacheco officiating. Interment to follow at Pickens Cemetery, Marshall County, Okla.

Rik was born to Leroy Christie and Wonzie (Isaac) Christie on October 27, 1959, at Chicago, Ill. Rik attended Madill High School, where he played football and competed as a bull rider in local rodeos. He enlisted in the Army National Guard. After his honorable discharge, he worked as a bartender in Chicago.

Rik moved to Oklahoma in 1980 and worked as a laborer. He attended truck driving school and received his CDL. Rik worked for Michelin until his health forced him to retire. He was an avid OU fan, enjoyed fishing and playing pool, and loved listening to music.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gerald; and sister, Patricia.

Rik is survived by two sons; Sequoyah Christie and Tecumseh Christie, both of Ardmore; three brothers, Terry Christie of Choctaw, Miss., Larry “Butch” Christie of Choctaw, Miss., and Eddie Christie of Ardmore, Okla.; sisters, Darla Thompson of Ardmore, Okla., and Kathy Eye of Madill, Okla.; uncles; Preston Isaac, Malcolm Isaac, Paul Isaac, and Frank Christie; aunts, Ella Ross and Leona Taylor; numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Carney, Nick Garcia, Jerry Wallace, Rodney Fixico, Tim Ross, and Don Johnson. Honorary bearers will be Robert Taylor, David Wallace, Clayborn Pickens, Preston Isaac, Joey Christie, Paul Wallace, and J.R. Lewis.

A wake service will be held at 6 p.m., Monday, May 27, 2013, at Pickens Baptist Church.
