Four one-mile sections of roadways in northern Pottawatomie County remained closed Thursday because of flooding from recent rains.
Most of the problems areas have occurred in District 1, where Melissa Dennis reported several roadways were washed out or had large sinkholes.
    Roadways closed are:
    • Coker Road, between Garrett’s Lake Road and Westech Road
    • NS 346 (Kings Road), from t he county line south to Hazel Dell Road.
    • NS 349 (Econtuchka Road), from Wolverine Road to Garrett’s Lake Road. This area includes the bridge over the North Canadian River, which was closed before floods because of needed repairs. That bridge is expected to remain closed for some time
    • NS 350 between 45th Street and MacArthur
In addition to the closed roadways, many others where repairs are needed have areas of rough patches or are down to one lane of traffic, said Randi Loy, district 1 administrative secretary.
Loy, who said 12 inches of recent rainfall have wreaked havoc on many county roads, said they are asking residents to be patient as county crews are working seven days a week.
While the floods have been the latest issue, they also occurred as crews are still working to collect all the tornado debris left from the May 19 storms.
    Watch for updates.
