  • TULSA, Okla. (AP) — The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority says multiple construction projects are driving away motorists.

Agency director Tim Stewart says revenues for 2013 are down about 1 percent from 2012, when the authority pulled in $235 million in tolls.

The Tulsa World reports (http://is.gd/at4zNe ) that the revenue dip will make it harder for the agency to keep up with repairs.

Stewart says revenue this year is below forecast so the authority is adjusting its budget. He says the economy is affecting revenues in addition to construction projects. There are eight work zones connected to the Tulsa area alone.

Construction sites include the Turner Turnpike, connecting Tulsa to Oklahoma City, and construction on the Will Rogers Turnpike, connecting to Joplin.
