Charles was born and raised in Maud and graduated from Maud High School. He attended Murray State College in Tishomingo. Through his college roommate, Robert Sullivan, he met Carolyn Sullivan, whom he later married.
Charles began working for his father’s business, Wilcox Motor Supply, in 1969. In January 1977, Charles and his brother-in-law, Bob Gear, purchased the business from Charles’ father, F.O. “Mugs” Wilcox. Charles and Carolyn became sole proprietors of Wilcox Motor Supply in 1978. In 1995, they closed the business and Charles began working for AECO Sales and Service in Tecumseh. Charles is currently semi-retired from AECO.
Charles is a past member of the Tecumseh Jaycees, Rotary Club and the Tecumseh Chamber of Commerce.
Carolyn was born in Shawnee and later moved to the New Hope area where she graduated from Bethel High School. After graduation, she worked for Hardin Real Estate and a Shawnee architectural firm. In 1974, she began working as a bookkeeper for Wilcox Motor Supply and continued until the business closed. She is now a homemaker.
Carolyn has been active in many civic organizations, including the Rosebud Extension Homemakers Club, Jaycee Jaynes, the Tecumseh Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Anns, Pioneer Library System board, the Norman Area Iris Society, and American Iris Society.
Charles and Carolyn are active members of the Highland Church of Christ, where Charles serves as an elder and church treasurer.
They have two sons and daughters-in-law, and four grandsons, Gene, Jessica, CJ, and Stephen Wilcox, and Tracy, Brenda, Michael, and Joey Wilcox, all of the Bethel Acres area.
