  • OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Backers of a new United Soccer Leagues Pro team proposed for Oklahoma City have scheduled an announcement for Tuesday afternoon.

  • OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Backers of a new United Soccer Leagues Pro team proposed for Oklahoma City have scheduled an announcement for Tuesday afternoon.
     
    Oklahoma City currently has a Premier Development League team and plans have been announced for a North American Soccer League team. The NASL team is scheduled to begin playing in 2015 after renovations are complete at Taft Stadium.
     
    Soccer's top league in the United States is Major League Soccer, or MLS.
     
    Oklahoma City's PDL team began playing this year in a division that includes five teams from Texas. Its next three games are on the road; it returns to play Houston on July 20.
